Alternative Diploma Programs
Competency Diploma Program
Are you looking for an alternate pathway toward graduation? Are you a few credits short of where you would like to be? eAchieve Academy's Competency Diploma Program provides a pathway toward graduation for 11th and 12th-grade students who find themselves a bit short on credits and allows them the opportunity to learn, grow, and graduate with their grade-level classmates.
Our experienced Competency Diploma Program teachers plan personalized learning plans based on each student's knowledge and skills, helping them close any gaps from their past learning experiences. Weekly individual meetings give students the flexibility to work or take care of other responsibilities while learning, growing, and graduating with their grade-level classmates on time!
GEDO #2 Program
The GED Option #2 (GEDO #2) Program allows authorized school districts to use the GED tests in place to measure proficiency in lieu of high school credit for students enrolled in an alternative education program. A student who passes the GED test(s) and completes the other requirements for graduation can earn a traditional high school diploma from eAchieve Academy.
The GEDO #2 Program is a fantastic option for students who may have had early success in high school and then experienced a life challenge that prevented them from progressing toward a credit-based diploma. GEDO #2 students can use the knowledge and skills they already possess, and with the support of their teacher, will be well-prepared to pass their GED tests in the spring.
The GEDO #2 Program includes the following:
Students served will be at least 17 years of age.
Students will be at least one year behind their 9th-grade class in credits earned.
Students served should demonstrate an ability to read at or above the 9th-grade level using a district-approved reading assessment that is an appropriate, valid, and reliable assessment of literacy. A district may use any district-approved or standardized test to screen for reading ability.
At least 15 hours of instruction are required each week.
The student will be required to participate in at least 10 hours of math, science, social studies, language arts, or health instruction each week until his/her instructors certify that he or she is academically prepared to take the final GED test.
Later in the school year, a larger portion of the student’s 15 hours per week can be devoted to experiential training (e.g., vocational/technical education, art, music, foreign language, or work experience).
Students must be continuously enrolled and attending the program until they are eligible to take the final GED test.
Students with disabilities will not be excluded from the program but must have a current IEP recommending participation in GEDO #2.
